Marathon’s COVID Vaccine Requirement Just Like Nazi Germany, Says Man Who Doesn’t Know Anything About Anything

A local man yesterday likened a marathon’s COVID vaccine requirement to Nazi Germany, Dumb Runner has learned, betraying a remarkable lack of knowledge about medicine, history, the free enterprise system, the actual policy in question, and even the rudiments of logic and rhetoric.
Mike Godwin, 28, made the comparison on a Facebook page for the Lake Tranquil Marathon, which announced this week that participants would need to show proof of vaccination in order to enter the race, scheduled for this summer.
“Unbelievable,” Godwin wrote in a comment. “‘Show me your papers,’ huh?”
“I thought we lived in a Free Country (sic), not Nazi Germany,” he added. “I will spend my dollar’s (sic) elsewhere, why don’t you change you’re (sic) name to LAKE GESTAPO marathon.”
Nazi Germany was a totalitarian state under Adolf Hitler, under whom a persecution of Jews and Romani people led, ultimately, to the slaughter of millions in the Holocaust, including babies and small children. Other so-called undesirables, including political foes and the disabled, were murdered or imprisoned.
The Lake Tranquil Marathon is an annual footrace in upstate New York.
Godwin’s social media accounts describe him as a “freedom loving follower of Christ” and “the Constitution.”
“Come and take it,” his bio adds.
Reached via a private message and asked to explain his comments, given the nature of the pandemic and the fact that the Lake Tranquil Marathon is a private business with broad discretion to set its own policies, Godwin blocked Dumb Runner.
