Headphone-Wearing Runner’s Off-Leash Dog Also Wearing Headphones

A woman on a local trail is wearing headphones and running with an off-leash dog who is also wearing headphones, Dumb Runner has learned, oblivious to the vocal complaints of fellow trail users.
The runner, identified as Cher Horowitz, 34, is a familiar site on the trail, sources said.
“She’s out here quite often,” said Josh, a fellow runner who asked that Dumb Runner use only his first name. “Always wearing headphones, always with her dog.”
The dog, named Emma, is typically off leash, Josh said, but “this is the first time I’ve seen [the dog] wearing headphones.”
“Which is pretty wild,” he added.
Other users of the trail—including walkers, cyclists, and other runners—often grumble about the dog, Josh said, and admonish Horowitz to put her on a leash, as required by law.
“She never hears them, because of the headphones,” he said, “and probably wouldn’t care even if she could.”
Just in the past couple of months, Josh said, he has seen Horowitz’s dog chase runners; stray across the path of a cyclist, nearly causing a crash; and approach a leashed dog, causing a needless conflict.
Horowitz noticed none of it, he said.
“And that was before [the dog] had her own headphones,” Josh added. “Now, she’s just as clueless as her owner.”
Reached for comment, Horowitz told Dumb Runner “it’s fine.”
