A local runner completed a marathon last weekend despite a lack of serious preparation, Dumb Runner has learned, coasting by on his good looks.

Derek Sulander, 36, finished the Mugatu (Indiana) Marathon in 4 hours 14 minutes 33 seconds, according to the event’s official results, simultaneously impressing and annoying several fellow runners who know him.

“Derek is a good guy and all, but he didn’t do squat to prepare for this race,” said one of those runners, who requested anonymity. “I mean, he ran maybe 10 times in the past three months, never more than eight or nine miles at a time, and usually much less.”

“Instead, he shows up on race day—in a new pair of shoes—and sails through it on his looks.”

Sulander, an online influencer and part-time model with amazing bone structure, flawless skin, and piercing gaze, has a history of “skating through life” thanks to his physical appearance, the source said.

“I’ve known him since junior high, and it’s always been this way,” said the source. “While the rest of us work and struggle for everything we get, Derek’s gets through on nothing but his perfect cheekbones, dazzling smile, and lush, thick head of hair.”

“He’s just super-handsome, and it’s opened every door for him,” the source added. “It sucks.”

Dumb Runner contacted Sulander by video call for comment, but got lost in his eyes.
