A local motorist was enraged this morning when she had to stop for a runner crossing the street, Dumb Runner has learned.

Dominique Toretto, 28, was en route to a hair appointment around 9:30 a.m. when the incident occurred, sources said. Cruising at well above the posted 30 mph speed limit, she didn’t notice the runner, an unidentified adult male, until she was roughly 30 feet away.

The runner was crossing the street in a crosswalk, sources said, and had a white WALK sign.

“Whoa!” Toretto said into the phone clamped between her ear and shoulder. “What the hell?”

“Hang on,” she said, putting her conversation on hold.

“What are you doing?” she shouted out her car window. “Get out of the street!”

The runner glanced in her direction, confused, and continued his run.

“[Expletive] runners,” Toretto muttered, shaking her head. “It’s like they want to get hit.”

Toretto then got another call and ended the first one.

“I have to take this,” she said into her phone as she sped away. “I’ll text you in a minute.”
