White House Doctor Admits Trump Did Not 'Snag Top 10 Finish' in London Marathon

White House physician Dr. Sean P. Conley this morning walked back a previous statement on President Donald Trump’s health, conceding that the ailing commander in chief did not, in fact, finish in the top 10 at Sunday’s London Marathon.

“Yesterday, I stated that the president was doing so well, he completed the London Marathon,” Dr. Conley told reporters at a news conference. “In fact, I believe my words were that he ‘snagged a top 10 finish.’”

“That information was not entirely accurate,” he said. “I may have been a bit overexuberant.”

President Trump announced late last week that he and First Lady Melania Trump had tested positive for COVID-19; the president was soon airlifted to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Since then, Dr. Conley has come under fire for evasive statements on the president’s health during briefings that “have raised more questions than answers.”

Asked whether President Trump had ever even run a 5K, much less a marathon, Dr. Conley smiled and hesitated.

“Uh…,” he said. “The president did not run a 5K Friday or Saturday.”

Asked again, Dr. Conley paused.

“I can tell you that the president has not run a 5K in the past 72 hours, by which I mean the last two days—what is today? Monday?—and that the number of 5Ks he has run is likely somewhere between zero and 200. Look, I’m not going to go into specifics.”

“He may be running a 5K right now,” he added, mopping his brow with a handkerchief. “He is in very good spirits.”
