A local runner described as “getting up there in years” still wears a running jacket he purchased decades ago, Dumb Runner has learned.

Tim Rice, 76, bought the jacket, a nylon Nike windbreaker in teal, purple, white, and yellow, via mail order in 1990, sources said.

“It’s pretty wild,” said Andrew Webber, 28, a fellow runner who often sees Rice on training runs and at local races. “At first I assumed it was an ironic thing, like, Wow, check out that crazy retro jacket. But no. Apparently it’s just really old and he never threw it away.”

Observers described the jacket as baggy, not breathable, and looking “like it came out of a freaking time machine.”

“I mean, the color scheme alone is just, I dunno, so ’90s,” said Webber. “Honestly, it’s like, if the 1990s were an article of clothing, it would be this jacket.”

Rice, who does not own a cell phone or use email, could not be reached for comment.
