Mom Asks Whether You Remember Judy? From Down the Road? Her Son Is a Big Runner, Too

In a phone call earlier today, your mother asked whether you remember Judy, noting that Judy’s son is also an avid runner, Dumb Runner has learned.
The remarks came about halfway through a six-minute conversation that covered topics ranging from your mother’s upcoming hip replacement to the well-being of your pets, and were prompted by your mentioning an upcoming race that you’re training for.
“Oh, by the way, do you remember Judy? From down the road?” your mother asked you. “Her son is a big runner, too.”
You do remember Judy, sources said, recalling her as a neighbor a few years younger than your mother, a nice enough lady whose house always smelled a little weird and who sometimes rode with your mother to church.
“And Donny? Judy’s boy?” your mother added. “He and his family live in Tennessee now.”
“Apparently he runs a lot, like you. He just did a 50-mile marathon!”
You vaguely remember Donny, those same sources confirmed, but did not know he is a runner.
“Oh,” you replied. “Huh.”
Neither Judy nor Donny responded to multiple calls and emails; reached for comment, your mother confirmed that she loves you, and maybe she’ll FaceTime you this weekend.
