Report: Local Runner Has Nothing in Ears

A local man was seen running yesterday with nothing in his ears, according to several reports, sparking intense speculation among bystanders and, in at least one case, some fear.
The unidentified man, who appeared to be in his twenties, covered at least four miles, judging from the locations of the witnesses. He appeared normal otherwise, they said.
“At first, I thought I was seeing things,” said one eyewitness, who, like the others, requested anonymity. “I was, like, This guy looks like a runner, but what’s wrong with his ears? There was nothing there but, you know… ears.”
“It was weird.”
Another witness reported seeing the runner pause to stretch his calf, giving here time to take a more careful look.
“I thought maybe he had some new, tiny earbuds, like stealth earbuds that are almost invisible,” she said. “But no. His ears were definitely bare. Both of them. I checked.”
“At least he was wearing a watch,” she added.
All of the witnesses shared a sense of puzzlement, they said; most also said they felt “a little freaked out.” For one bystander, those feelings included a vague sense of alarm.
“I’ll admit it, I felt a chill,” that witness said. “It was just so unnatural, you know?
“I thought, If this guy is running without any sort of earbuds or headphones or anything, what else is he capable of?”
He paused, shivering.
“I hope I never see him again.”
