A local man out for a trail run this morning paused on a scenic stretch of his route to position his phone on the ground, set its camera’s auto-timer to take a burst of photos, and run past it several times, Dumb Runner has learned.

A photo from that burst later appeared on the man’s social media accounts.

The man, Rich Avedon, 28, spent several minutes arranging the phone near the edge of the trail, sources said, balancing it against a large rock, and stared straight ahead as he strode by, as if the phone weren’t there at all. Afterward, Avedon jogged back to collect his phone and examine the photos, deleting all but two.

He then spent several minutes editing one of the photos and sharing it to Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, according to sources, writing, “Eight miles of zen, just me and the trail.”

Several of Avedon’s followers liked the photo.

Reached for comment later, Avedon said he was too busy photographing his breakfast to talk.
