World marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge has “really let himself go” during the coronavirus shutdown, Dumb Runner has learned, running just six times a week, binge-watching Netflix, and seeing his weight skyrocket to 122 pounds.

“I can barely recognize him anymore,” said a source close to Kipchoge, who requested anonymity. “He isn’t the world-class athlete I knew just weeks ago. He’s really let himself go.”

Kipchoge, 35, stands at 5 feet 6 inches and normally weighs around 115 pounds.

Like many runners around the world, Kipchoge has largely been stuck at home for nearly two months now, watching helplessly as races are canceled or postponed and wondering when things will return to normal.

“The only marathon he’s doing these days is a Parks and Recreation marathon,” said the source. “He’d never seen it, so he’s playing catch-up.”

In addition to his inactivity, Kipchoge’s diet has contributed to the running legend’s recent weight gain.

“Sometimes he’ll sit there staring at the TV and just mindlessly eating celery,” said the source. “It’s sad.”

“I’m afraid that if he keeps this up, his weight could push 125.”
