Report: Canadian Runner Is Sorry

A Canadian runner is sorry, Dumb runner has learned—a sentiment he’s expressed at least a dozen times in a recent 24-hour period.
William Henry Storey, 38, an avid runner and resident of Victoria, B.C., most recently apologized for passing a pedestrian on a sidewalk during a run, according to a source who requested anonymity.
“Sorry,” Storey said as he slowed his pace to navigate around the pedestrian, a woman pushing a stroller, offering her a little wave.
It was just the latest in a series of sheepish apologies from Storey, according to the source, noting that the married father of two routinely offers mea culpas for seemingly inconsequential matters.
“Will is perpetually sorry,” the source said. “Just on this run, before the encounter with the stroller lady, he apologized to a driver for crossing the street, to a sanitation worker—I’m still not sure why—and, I swear, to a dog who had veered into his path.”
“He sort of uses ‘sorry’ the way folks in Hawaii use ‘aloha,’” added the source. “It means different things, for him, depending on the context.”
Reached for comment, Storey laughed and acknowledged that he probably is guilty of being too apologetic too often.
“Sorry,” he said. “I guess it’s become a bit of a reflex.”
“Dammit,” he added.
