Chilling Photo Captures Runners' Final Moments Before Fatal Head-On Collision

A photo obtained by Dumb Runner shows the chilling final milliseconds before two local runners collided yesterday, instantly killing them both.
The victims, identified as David Cronenberg, 28, and Holly Hunter, 21, had each been out for a morning run when the crash occurred, according to authorities. There is no indication that they knew each other.
The collision happened in a popular public park, where witnesses later recalled a scene of “carnage” and “absolute horror.” Authorities working with those witnesses are still trying to piece together how the crash happened.
Speed may have been a factor, they said.
“Also, [Hunter] was wearing earbuds,” said one witness. “I don’t know if that made a difference or not.”
Authorities are using the tragedy to remind runners of the need to pay attention and “run defensively.”
“These deaths were preventable,” police said in a statement. “If you’re running, please go slow, avoid distractions, and always be aware of your surroundings.”
