A local runner arrives at his downtown office each day fresh-faced and brimming with energy, according to several of the man’s coworkers, all of whom despise him.

Tyler James Williams, 32, reportedly wakes as early as 5:30 a.m. most days and runs three to five miles before showering and commuting by bike to his job as a software sales manager.

“Tyler is so annoying,” said one coworker who, like others, spoke to Dumb Runner on condition of anonymity. “Every day, he waltzes in here, smiling and greeting everyone and talking about some great idea he had, or some problem he solved, during his run that morning.”

“It’s the worst,” said another, by phone. “The rest of us are downing coffee and just trying to grind through the morning, and Tyler is, like, bouncing around like an instructor from a fitness video or something.”

Dumb Runner heard whistling in the background, growing louder.

“Oh, God,” that coworker whispered. “Here he comes.”

Reached for comment, Williams confirmed that he does run almost every morning before work.

“It’s amazing,” he said. “Running before work gives me energy all day long.”

Williams said he frequently urges one or more coworker to join him for an early-morning run, but they always seem to have a reason they can’t make it.

“So far, no takers,” he said. “But I’ll keep trying!”
