Thousands of runners laced up and hit the streets Sunday for a special cause: Kevin.

“If we helped just one person today become aware of Kevin, it’s worth it,” said Dorothy Parker, organizer of the event, which drew an estimated 4,500 runners. “Kevin is a great guy.”

“He’s really dotes on his little niece,” she said. “And he plays the drums.”

The event, called “Jog for Kevin,” took runners along a four-mile course and included local bands that dedicated each song to Kevin.

“Events like this one remind us that not everything is about us,” said Robert Benchley, a participant. “Sometimes it’s about Kevin, you know?”
