New GU+Scope™ Promises Lasting Energy, Fresh Breath

A new line of energy gels from GU Energy includes “a splash of minty fresh flavor” courtesy of Scope mouthwash, Dumb Runner has learned, in a sports nutrition/personal care mashup that’s believed to be the first of its kind.
GU+Scope™, which goes on sale today, is available in Tri-Berry, Vanilla Bean, Mandarin Orange, and Pineaple; other Scope-infused flavors may be added later, according to a news release from GU. The gels retail for $1.60 apiece, about the same as GU’s other gels.
“To avoid bonking while exercising, you need a portable source of easily digestible carbohydrates to fuel your muscles,” the news release reads. “And to feel confident during those close moments with someone special, you need fresh breath.”
“GU+Scope™ has got you covered on both counts.”
Rumors that GU had considered adding fluoride to the new gels could not be confirmed.
