Local Woman Spends Entire 5-Mile Run Discussing Merits of ‘Bluey’

A local woman spent the entirety of her five-mile run yesterday discussing “Bluey,” Dumb Runner has learned, despite several attempts to steer the conversation to other topics.
Hanna Barbera, 36, was still strapping her 3-year-old daughter, Josie, into her stroller when it started, sources said.
“I want to watch ‘Bluey,’” Josie said, referring to the popular animated TV series aimed at preschoolers.
Josie did not get to watch “Bluey” during the run, the sources said, but that opening statement kicked off a nearly 45-minute back-and-forth about the show’s title character, an energetic blue heeler puppy, and her family—her father, Bandit; mother, Chilli; and younger sister, Bingo.
The conversation consisted mostly of questions from Josie, the sources said, ranging from the inane (“Is Bluey named Bluey because she’s blue?”) to the profound (“Will Bluey and Bingo get old? Will they die?”), as well as a few curveballs (“Can we go to Australia?”)
Barbera, an avid runner and mother of two, tried her best to answer her daughter’s questions, but the effort clearly tested her patience. Desperate for a diversion, the sources said, at one point she suggested that her daughter try singing a song.
“Mum! …. Dad!” Josie sang, kicking off the “Bluey” theme song.
“By the end, I think she was picking up the pace, figuring the sooner they got home, the sooner she could escape [the “Bluey” talk],” said one source, who requested anonymity. “I mean, she was a captive audience.”
Reached for comment, Barbera said she actually enjoys watching “Bluey,” but there are limits.
“It’s a great show—funny, warm, really well done—and I do love my daughter,” she said. “But I think I’ll do my next run solo.”
