Two-time Olympic marathon gold medal winner Eliud Kipchoge has been busy doing online research in advance of his appearance at the Paris Games on August 10, Dumb Runner has learned—and his browser history suggests the 39-year-old is nervous about navigating the French capital.

“How to say which way to marathon start in French” was just one of the Google searches made recently by Kipchoge, according to a source, who described the running legend as “uncharacteristically anxious.”

Other phrases Kipchoge asked Google to translate to French, the source said, included:

  • “I do not really speak French”

  • “My name is Eliud Kipchoge”

  • “Where are the toilets please”

  • “What time does Olympic marathon start 2024”

  • “Please wake me up in time for the marathon”

  • “Don’t forget to wake me up in time for the marathon”

  • “I intend to prove my doubters wrong”

The Kenyan, also apparently curious about Paris in general, also reportedly Googled:

  • “Fancy Paris restaurant promo code”

  • “France money”

  • “How to pronounce arrondissement”

  • “Is Eiffel tower worth it”

Reached for comment, Kipchoge told Dumb Runner, “Je m’appelle Eliud.”
