Anonymous Kudos Slipped Under Door Starting to Freak Local Runner Out

A local man is feeling unnerved after receiving more than a dozen blank “kudos” cards at his home and workplace, Dumb Runner has learned.

The cards seem to be physical manifestations of the “kudos” given virtually on Strava, a web platform popular among endurance athletes who use it to track activity and connect with one another.

Rick James, 38, an avid runner and Strava user, said he spotted the first such card—unsigned and featuring only an orange thumbs-up icon—about three weeks ago.

“Someone slipped it under my front door,” James said. “I thought it was weird, but kind of funny.”

“Then they kept coming.”

Identical cards appeared not just under his door, James said, but under his car’s windshield wiper, in his mailbox, taped outside his kitchen window, and even at his workplace, delivered with a bouquet of roses. The identity of the sender, or senders, remains a mystery.

“On one hand, it’s always nice to get kudos,” James said. “On the other hand, it’s super freaky.”
