A local man woke this morning with various aches and pains in his legs and lower back, Dumb Runner has learned, and unable to determine the cause of his discomfort.

“Cripes,” said Daniel Glover, 63, a longtime runner and veteran of 12 marathons. “Ugh.”

Earlier in the week, Glover had done what sources described as a “tough workout,” jogging to a nearby track and running 3 miles at tempo pace followed by six 400-meter repeats. On the other hand, those same sources said, the father of three routinely deals with seemingly random pain and discomfort—a fact of Glover’s life for at least the past decade.

Reached for comment, Glover said he still isn’t sure whether his current pain is due to his recent workout or merely a product of old age.

“Probably it’s a bit of both,” he said. “Either way, it sucks.”

“Maybe a nap will help.”
