In a move that stunned fans and competitors alike, the American gymnast Simone Biles cruised to an easy victory Saturday in the women’s 10,000m final at the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials in Eugene, Oregon.

The seemingly unbeatable Biles, who registered for the track event at the last minute, won the race in 31 minutes 2.6 seconds, leaping across the finish line before executing a forward roll and springing to her feet in triumph, hands held high for the crowd.

As the rest of the field struggled to the finish behind her, reactions ranged from disbelief to admiration.

“She’s not even a runner!” said one competitor, who finished more than 20 seconds behind Biles and requested anonymity. “What the f***?”

“If I had to lose, I’m glad I lost to (Biles),” said another. “I mean, she’s Simone Biles. Could she be any more awesome?”

The 24-year-old phenom was said to have used Saturday’s race as a way to “loosen up” ahead of her gymnastics performance at the Trials on Sunday night, which she also won handily.

Given her easy win in the 10,000m, Biles is said to be considering competing at next month’s Tokyo Games in gymnastics and track and field, plus maybe archery, swimming, and surfing, which she could also probably nail.
