INSPIRATION ALERT! When This Runner Found Three Abandoned Kittens Along a Busy Road, She Stopped to Move Them to a Less-Busy Road

When Eleanor Abernathy, an avid runner and animal lover, spotted three tiny kittens near a high-traffic road during a recent run, she knew exactly what she had to do.

“These little kitties were obviously abandoned, and they were so scared, with all of those cars whizzing by,” said the 29-year-old attorney. “It was dangerous—and heartbreaking.”

“So I paused my run, gently wrapped them up in my jacket, and moved them a few blocks away, to a quieter spot.”

The kittens, which Abernathy guesses were about six weeks old, quickly adapted to their new home, she said, staring up at her and posing for several photos, which quickly racked up hundreds of likes and comments on her Instagram account.

“I knew they’d be a lot safer (in the new location),” she said. “It’s a narrower street with a lot less traffic, and there’s even some trees and stuff.”

Abernathy shrugged off praise for her actions.

“I did what anyone would do, or at least should do” she said. “I just love animals.”
