Kenyan marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge, owner of dozens of race medals, has spent days searching online for a suitable medal display rack, Dumb Runner has learned, and has narrowed the list down to two choices.

Both racks are sold via the e-commerce website Etsy.com, said a source, who described the items as “both fun, but in different ways.”

One rack, costing $36.99 and available in 10 colors on wood, features the phrase, “It seemed like a good idea at the time...” above a row of hooks. The other, starting at $54 and offered in three lengths, is made of brushed stainless steel and shows the profile of an X-Wing fighter, from the Star Wars movie franchise, next to the words “May the course be with you,” a pun on a popular line from that film series.

“They’re both really neat,” Kipchoge is said to have murmured while comparing the two. “Man, this is hard.”

Kipchoge’s medal collection is extensive, ranging from a gold in the 5000 meters at the 2003 World Championships to four Olympic medals (two gold, one silver, one bronze) and nine wins at World Marathon Majors events. Until now, the source said, the 37-year-old marathon world record holder has been storing most of them in shoeboxes under his bed.

“He really felt it was time to display them properly,” the source said. “So he Googled ‘running medal display’ and started looking around.”

At the time of publication, Kipchoge was reported to appear “really stuck.”

“He just keeps looking back and forth between these two choices,” the source said. “I think he honestly can’t decide.”

“I’m not sure whether it’s occurred to him that he could order both, you know?”
