An employee at a local running store is still laughing about an interaction with a customer that occurred last Saturday, Dumb Runner has learned.

Christian Louboutin, 28, a sales associate at Runner's Zone, said the customer—a man who said he was “trying to get into running”—walked into the store around lunchtime.

“He seemed a little unsure,” said Louboutin, “so I walked over, greeted him, and asked if I could help him find something.”

Louboutin wasn’t prepared for what happened next.

“Dude looks right at me,” he said, “and says, ‘Yeah, I’m looking for running shoes.’”

Louboutin paused for effect.

“‘Ideally,’ he tells me, ‘for under $50.’”

The response left Louboutin doubled over in laughter.

“I thought I was going to pee myself,” he said. “For real.”

At some point during Louboutin’s laughing fit, the customer left. Thinking about the incident later, Louboutin said, he wondered whether a friend or coworker had arranged the whole thing as a practical joke.

“Either way, it was hilarious,” he said. “Fifty dollars. Classic.”

“I still laugh when I think about it.”
