Runner Complaining About Summer Weather Can’t Wait to Start Complaining About Winter Weather

A local runner has “had about enough” of hot, humid summer weather, Dumb Runner has learned, and is eager for the brutally cold, icy weather of winter.

“My God, this sucks,” said Robert Southey, 33, during a run Sunday morning, dressed in shorts and a singlet, in 80 degree temperatures.

“I can’t wait for winter,” he added.

Southey, an avid runner, complains about the weather every summer, a source told Dumb Runner. That same source also noted that he just as reliably complains about winter weather.

“Robert is hilarious,” said the source, who requested anonymity. “Every year he bitches and moans about the heat, from, like, June through August; then he bitches and moans about the cold, from November through February.”

“Sometimes through March,” the source added. “It depends.”

Southey’s complaints about hot-weather running and cold-weather running mirror each other in their intensity and their construction, the source said.

“In July, he’ll gripe nonstop about the humidity, the temperatures, the lack of relief,” said the source. “In February, he’ll gripe nonstop about the wind chill, the temperatures, the lack of relief.”

“Last winter he would not shut up about how cold it was, how unbearable, how he had to deal with numb fingers and toes no matter how warmly he dressed, etc.,” the source recalled. “And yeah, he absolutely kept saying that he couldn’t wait for summer.”

Reached for comment, Southey confirmed that he’s no fan of hot weather.

“I did 5 miles yesterday, and I was sweating buckets almost immediately,” he said. “I’ve had about enough of this crap.”

“I really can’t wait for winter.”
