Easy Morning Run Somehow Makes Hangover Worse

An easy three-mile run intended to ease a local woman’s hangover actually made her symptoms worse, Dumb Runner has learned, adding to her already considerable misery.
Annie Wilkes, 44, set out for her run around 10 a.m., according to a source close to the situation, after waking late with a dry mouth, body aches, mental fogginess, and a severe headache—the result of a late night out with friends that, the source said, included “a few too many beverages.”
Wilkes, an avid runner, decided to go for what she described as an easy run—meaning, for her, three to four miles at a relaxed pace—hoping that the movement and fresh air would make her feel better.
Instead, said the source, she steadily felt worse as she went.
“I think she felt betrayed,” the source said. “I know that in the past a short run has helped her recover from a night of overindulgence. So this had to feel like a slap in the face.”
When she returned home, walking the final quarter-mile or so, Wilkes still had a dry mouth, aches, fogginess, and a bad headache. The only difference, said the source, was that she was now also sweaty.
“Also,” the source added, “she seemed to have pulled something in her left leg, so she was sort of limping.”
At last report, Wilkes was getting back into bed and wondering whether to give up running, or drinking, or both.
