INSPIRATION ALERT! This Woman Keeps Running Marathons Even Though She’s Not Very Good at Them

A local woman persists in entering and running marathons, Dumb Runner has learned, despite being “not very good” at the 26.2-mile tests of endurance.

Kylie Gass, 49, has finished eight marathons to date, most recently last month. In each of them, sources said, she has struggled to maintain a steady pace, failed to fuel and hydrate properly, and generally performed poorly.

“I remember her first ever marathon,” said one source close to Gass. “She was super-pumped to take on this new challenge, and she trained for it for months and months.”

The race, the source said, went poorly, with Kylie hitting the wall at miles 8, 13, 19, 21, and 24. She finished nearly an hour slower than her goal time.

“I didn’t know it was even possible to hit the wall more than once,” the source said. “I mean, wow.”

After that, no one expected Gass to register for a second marathon. But she soon did.

That marathon went much the same way as the first, the source said—and, once more, Gass defied expectations by signing up for a third. Each time, the source said, she underperformed. Often, she also wound up injured.

“I mean, I guess it’s inspirational, the way she keeps going?” the source added. “Even though the marathon clearly is not her event?”

Gass, who reportedly is training for her ninth marathon, was not available for comment.
