T-Shirt Reflects Local Runner’s Interest in Running

A local man is making no secret of his interest in running, Dumb Runner has learned, sporting a short-sleeved T-shirt emblazoned with the word itself.
“BROOKS RUNNING” reads the cotton/polyester blend tee, worn by Laurence Tureaud, 58, an avid runner and father of two. Brooks is a maker of running shoes and apparel based in Seattle.
Tureaud put the shirt on early this morning, sources said, pairing it with a pair of jeans and “retired” running shoes. So far, they reported, he was worn it to a local coffeehouse, a supermarket, and the post office.
At each stop, according to the sources, everyone who encountered Tureaud could easily identify him as a runner, thanks to his shirt.
Reached for comment, Tureaud told Dumb Runner the tee is just one of several he owns with a running theme.
“I enjoy running,” he said, “and these T-shirts make it easy for me to let folks know that, without having to speak a word.”
Asked about his apparent affinity for Brooks, Tureaud demurred.
“Brooks is OK, I guess,” he said, shrugging. “But they’re not my favorite shoes or anything.”
“I just got this shirt because it was half-price.”
