Boston Marathon officials today unveiled a limited-edition jacket for the 2026 race from an unlikely partner—Members Only, an iconic fashion brand from the 1980s.

The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.), which organizes the marathon, made the announcement today in a news release.

“The Boston Marathon has a proud tradition of exclusivity,” said Steve Harrington, a B.A.A. spokesperson. “Not everyone who wants to run Boston can do so; that’s part of our DNA.”

“What brand, then, is a more natural fit for us than an apparel maker called Members Only?”

The Members Only “racer jacket,” with its trademark epaulets, collar strap, and elastic cuffs and hem, enjoyed wide popularity in the ’80s, alongside such other cultural touchstones as Cabbage Patch Kids, parachute pants, and Rubik’s Cubes. The Boston Marathon version will be teal blue and feature the event’s traditional unicorn logo front and back.

The jacket will be available for pre-order in early January, Harrington said, at $198.

“But don’t wait to order yours,” he added. “This is a limited run of 1,000 jackets, and when they’re gone, they’re gone.”

Asked whether Members Only might supplant Adidas as the marathon’s official apparel supplier, Harrington demurred.

“Who knows?” he said. “Stranger things have happened.”
