A local runner is slow but has fast shoes, Dumb Runner has learned.

Dan Fogelberg, 32, a self-described “back-of-the-packer,” bought the shoes last week, sources said. The shoes, identified as Nike ZoomX Vaporfly Next%, retail for $250. According to Nike’s website, the footwear “clears your path to record-breaking speed with a lighter design and faster feel.”

Reached for comment, Fogelberg said he hopes the shoes will carry him to a 5K PR, noting that even his walk breaks will be faster, thanks to his shoes.

“I feel fast just wearing them,” he said. “Well, not fast, exactly. A little less slow.”
