Personal Trainer’s New Year's Resolutions All Include the Word ‘Core’

A local personal trainer has made several New Year’s resolutions, all of which include the word core, Dumb Runner has learned.

Otto Lidenbrock, 28, announced his resolutions Sunday in a social media post, vowing to accomplish the following in 2023:

  • Strengthen his core

  • “Work on” his core (it was unclear how this differs from strengthening)

  • Urge his clients to focus more on their own cores

  • Learn more about the core

  • Spread the word about the core, and why it’s so important

  • Read Jules Verne’s 1867 novel “Journey to the Center of the Earth,” which involves a fantastical expedition to the planet’s core

Reached for comment, Lidenbrock said he’s optimistic that he can achieve his goals.

“I always try to set goals that are challenging, but not impossible,” he said. “It won’t be easy to accomplish [all of the resolutions], but as I tell my clients, nothing worthwhile is ever easy, right?”

Asked about his final resolution, which diverges a bit from the others, Lidenbrock explained that in addition to being a fitness enthusiast he is an avid science fiction fan.

“I’m not some one-dimensional jock,” he said. “I do have other interests.”
