Odysseus Totally Overstriding Right Here, Local Runner Tells Girlfriend

Odysseus is “totally overstriding” in Christopher Nolan’s film adaptation of “The Odyssey,” a local runner told his girlfriend Sunday.
The runner, William Hunting, 19, made the observation during a matinee showing of the popular movie, as he watched the main character, played by Matt Damon, fleeing a tribe of man-eating giants called Laestrygonians.
“Oh, look at that, right there,” he whispered to his girlfriend, identified as Andrea Sachs, 18. “He’s totally overstriding, big time.”
“If he shortened his stride and increased his turnover, he’d get out of there much quicker.”
“Oh shit,” he added, grimacing as a Laestrygonian caught one of Odysseus’ crew members and bit his head off.
“In fact, all these guys have pretty bad form,” Hunting said, prompting several fellow moviegoers to shush him.
Hunting did concede that Odysseus and his men seemed to be running pretty fast, considering “all that armor and stuff” they were wearing, though he doubted they could sustain that pace for very long.
Reached for comment, the track and cross-country runner admitted he has a history of critiquing movie characters’ running.
“Don’t get me started with Tom Cruise,” he said. “That guy needs to learn to relax, shake his arms out once in a while.”
