Fresh off his history-making 1:59:30 finish at last weekend’s London Marathon, Sabastian Sawe has set his sights on another world record, Dumb Runner has learned—fastest marathon dressed as the Disney character Buzz Lightyear.

Sawe, of Kenya, became the first person ever to run a marathon in less than two hours last weekend at the London Marathon, fueling speculation over what might come next.

“Many people have asked me that,” Sawe told Dumb Runner in an exclusive interview. “And the answer is that I will target the world record for a marathon in a big, silly costume.”

Technically, the world record category Sawe is targeting is Fastest Marathon Dressed as a 3D Toy; currently, that record stands at 4:19:23, set by an English runner named Matt Batchelor—coincidentally, also at last weekend’s London Marathon.

Batchelor ran that race while dressed as Optimus Prime, a sentient robot and chief protagonist of the Transformers franchise.

“I am confident I can get that record down to a sub-4,” said Sawe. “While wearing normal shoes, even.”

Asked whether his own new goal was inspired by Batchelor’s feat at London, Sawe was unequivocal.

“No,” he said. “I’ve been training at least a year for this; it’s only now that I am making it known.”

It remains unclear when or where, exactly, Sawe will make his attempt, though he hinted it might be as early as this fall.

“We will see,” he said. “The conditions must be right, so not too hot.”

And why Buzz Lightyear, specifically?

“I am a huge ‘Toy Story’ fan,” said Sawe. “And I love Buzz Lightyear’s spirit.”

“Toon affinity … and beyond!”
