In what’s believed to be a first, Nike has released a long-sleeved tech shirt designed expressly for runners with enormous forearms, Dumb Runner has learned—a move the company is touting as “a win for inclusion and acceptance.”
Called the FORE+, the shirt retails for $57 and goes on sale today through select retailers and at Nike.com, where it’s described this way:
Runners with comically huge forearms: Your search for the perfect shirt is over. Introducing the Nike FORE+ long-sleeved tee—a breathable, sweat-wicking shirt designed expressly for runners built like Popeye the Sailor Man.
Reached for comment, a Nike spokesperson said the FORE+ was “years in the making,” as its design presented some unique challenges.
“We needed sleeves that were stretchy enough in the upper arms to accommodate huge forearms passing through, but without losing their shape,” the spokesperson said. “And, obviously, the fit in the lower arms had to be just right.”
“This shirt is a feat of engineering.”
More important, they added, it’s “a watershed moment for any runner who has a cartoonish body or body part.”
“You are what you are,” the spokesperson said. “And we see you.”
