NICE! When an Amazon Driver Hit This Runner, He Let Her Choose Any 3 Packages From His Van in Exchange for Her Silence

When Cathy Hippolyta left her home Saturday for her usual morning run, she had no idea she would return with an armful of free stuff. But that’s exactly what happened.

“Everything was totally normal until I was about half a mile from home,” said Hippolyta, 62, an avid runner. “Then, out of nowhere, boom.”

An Amazon delivery driver, turning right at a stop sign, had hit Hippolyta as she crossed the street, sending her flying.

“It hurt, of course, but nothing was broken or anything,” Hippolyta said. “More than anything, I was dazed and scared.”

“It all happened so fast!”

The driver, Hippolyta said, stopped immediately.

“He was really freaked out,” she said, noting that the twenty-something man, who kept muttering, “Not again,” seemed worried about losing his job.

“I think he said ‘I’m sorry’ about a hundred times,” said Hippolyta. “Then he asked me if I would mind keeping the incident between us.”

That’s when the driver opened the door to his van and gestured inside.

“He told me to help myself,” Hippolyta said. “Choose whatever three packages I wanted, as Amazon’s gift to me.”

And Hippolyta did.

“I picked two padded envelopes and one box that wasn’t too heavy, since I still had to make it home on foot,” she said. “When I opened them later, I discovered I got a six-pack of men’s socks, a bag of organic dog treats, and one of those Alexa speaker things.”

“Not bad for a morning’s work!” she added.

Asked whether the crash would affect how, or where, she runs in the future, Hippolyta said no.

“I’ve always been a glass-half-full kind of person,” she said. “I mean, yes, I got hit. But I also got this free stuff.”

“I call that a win.”
