A local woman who runs at least three times a week and describes herself as an “avid runner” complains constantly about her chosen activity, Dumb Runner has learned.

Annie Lennox, a 24-year-old retail sales associate, began running about three years ago, sources said, and has been griping about it “from day one.”

“It’s amazing,” said one source, a fellow runner who requested anonymity. “She’s a good runner, really diligent about getting out there and putting in the work, week after week. But she always has something to complain about.”

Lennox’s non-running friends, including some coworkers, reported the same behavior.

“It does seem like Annie is always either grousing about a long run she has to the next morning or else complaining about a run she did the day before,” said one. “And I’m always, like, Dude, you know running is a voluntary thing, right? You choose to do this?

Among the things Lennox regularly complains about are:

  • Aches and pains

  • Hot weather

  • Cold weather

  • Rainy weather

  • Hills

  • Her shoes

  • Nagging injuries

  • Race entry fees

  • Long runs

  • Short speed workouts

  • Chafing

  • Blisters

  • Being overdressed

  • Being underdressed

People who run with Lennox said she also occasionally complains about running in general, apropos of nothing—declaring mid-run, for example, “God, this sucks.”

Reached for comment, Lennox said she couldn’t talk because she was icing her calf.

“This thing has been bugging me for weeks,” she said. “It’s alway something.”
